Table of Contents:

What To Bring
- Rain Jacket or Poncho: Weather can flip from sunny to tropical rain in minutes that’s part of the magic. During the rainy season, pack a lightweight rain jacket.
- Sunscreen: Costa Rica’s UV rays don’t take a day off even when it looks cloudy.Use waterproof SPF 30+, apply before your trip, and reapply when possible.
- Sunglasses: Cloudy weather? Don’t get fooled! The glare on the water is real. You’ll want sunglasses, but please secure them. Rapids don’t care how much you paid for them.
Quick-Dry Clothing
When it comes to clothes, think lightweight, breathable, and fast-drying. Avoid cotton once it’s wet, it stays wet.
Bring:
- quick-dry T-shirts or rash guards
- swimsuits (wear it under your clothes)
- board shorts or other quick-drying shorts
These fabrics keep you comfortable between splashes and during breaks on the riverbank.
Secure Footwear
You need secure shoes that stay on, even in rapids.
Best options: water shoesr, river sandals with straps or old sneakers with good grip
If your shoes fall off, the river keeps them. Trust us.

Hat or Cap
A simple baseball cap or sunhat with a chin strap is perfect. Just make sure it’s secure enough not to fly away mid-rapid.
Towel & Dry Clothes
A hat with a secure strap is helpful for keeping the sun off your face, but make sure it won’t fly away during the rapids! After rafting, you’ll want to get dry ASAP.
Pack:
- A small quick-dry towel
- Dry T-shirt
- Comfy shorts/light pants
- sandals or dry shoes
Waterproof Bag
Bring a small waterproof bag or dry pouch for:
- Phone
- ID
- Money for tips (Optional)
- GoPro (with waterproof case)
Snacks & Hydration
Our tours usually include water and snacks but extra granola bars or fruit never hurt.
Bring a reusable bottle to hydrate before and after.
Insect Repellent
Near rivers and forests, mosquitos like to join the adventure too. Pack a small repellent DEET or eucalyptus-based both work great.
